Our Ausangate Trail Hike offers views of glaciers, river waterfalls from melting ice, hot springs, and Rainbow Mountain. This hike also offers incredible landscapes when surrounding the snow-capped mountains, where we can appreciate wild vicuñas, vizcachas, condors, flamingos and Andean geese.
ITINERARY
Ausangate Trail Hike 4D
DAY 1: CUSCO – PITUMARCA – QESUYUNO – KAYRAWIRY
Head into the andes and its local communities. On this hike, we will see canyons, snow covered mountains, farming terraces and isolated local communities. We will also see the famous Rainbow Mountain before hiking to our evening campsiteLet the day sink in at our overnight campsite, surrounded by the Ausangate mountain range. Prepare yourself to see some wild vicuñas and condors.

DAY 2: KAYRAWIRI – QESUYUNO – AUSANGATE LAKE
Hiking through some of the region’s most pristine landscapes only comes with unmatchable views of snow capped peaks and high puna valleys. Today we will hike to Condor Pass at an impressive 5,100 m.a.s.l. of elevation and will camp by the crystalline waters of Ausagante Lake.

DAY 3: AUSANGATE LAKE – QAMPA
Maintaining our elevation within high Andean puna, we will likely be accompanied by wild vicuñas and some soaring condors above. Today’s hike will also entail hiking up to the second and last mountain pass of the trail, Campo Pass. Once again, we will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Ausangate glacier peak and its surrounding lakes.

DAY 4: QAMPA – PACCHANTA – CUSCO
After 3 days of full acclimatization, today will feel like a breeze. We will hike past a few more glacial lakes, including Qomer lake. The day’s highlight will be arriving at the small, local village of Pacchanta, where you will enjoy a much needed rest in the village’s hot springs.
Our return to Cusco will be by car from Pacchanta.
