Rainbow Mountain Full Day Itinerary

Our tour to Rainbow Mountain begins in Cusco with an early morning pick-up directly from your hotel. From Cusco, we will head to the basecamp, located south of the city and passing the town of Cusipata.

Before our hike, we will take a break to enjoy a heart-warming breakfast and get ready for the hike.

The Rainbow Mountain hike is challenging but rewarding. It will take us through a stunning landscape of mountain peaks, valleys, and rivers. The hike is about 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) each way and takes around 2-3 hours to complete, depending on your pace.

Once you reach the top of Rainbow Mountain, you will be rewarded with incredible panoramic views of the surrounding Andean peaks and valleys. It’s a truly breathtaking sight that is unlike anything else in the region. We will have time for photographs and the simple enjoyment of the views.

The descent will be along the same trail back to our lunch spot. The return to Cusco will be by car and will take approximately 3 hours.

Recommendations

To guarantee the best of experiences, it is important to be fully prepared. Here is a list of items we recommend you to bring for this tour. 

• Comfortable shoes. No heels, flip flops, flats or unworn shoes. Preferably hiking shoes/boots. 
• Small day pack for your personal items 
• Travel document 
• Parka or windbreaker.  Weather changes are common in Cusco. This includes sunny, rainy and windy conditions. 
• Reusable water bottle
• Sunblock 
• Camera 
• Extra cash for souvenirs & snacks
