The Inca Trail is by far one of the most renowned trails in Peru. This trail spans over 42 KM and is the only trail in the region that grants direct access to the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu. ITINERARIO
Inca Trail Classic Hike 4D Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – PISKACUCHO KM 82 – LLACTAPATA – WAYLLABAMBA
From Cusco, we will make our way to the trailhead at KM 82. This will be a comfortable drive through the Sacred Valley in the company of the early morning views of the towering snow capped mountains.
Once at KM 82, we will officially enter the Inca Trail. We will begin hiking towards our first archaeological site, Llactapata. This will be through typical dry forest and with stunning views of Apu Veronica. Our hike will be along gently rolling terrain and some gentle uphills to our campsite in Huayabamba.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYU
Today will be considered the most challenging day along the Inca Trail. Leaving early from our campsite, we will begin our hike from local villages and farmland to subtropical forest. Our lunch spot will be midway in Llulluchapampa.
After lunch, we will continue towards the trail’s highest point, Warmihuañusca Pass. This section of the trail will be mostly uphill. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with the breathtaking views of the Valley below! We will continue for an additional 3KM (downhill) to our evening campsite in Pacaymayo.

DAY 3: PACAYMAYU – PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA
After an early breakfast, we will begin our hike to some of the trail’s most stunning archaeological sites. The hike will be along gently rolling terrain and uphills. However, we will not hike as high as the previous day.
On this day, you will see the impressive sites of Runkurakay, Sayacmarka, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñay Wayna.

DAY 4: WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Our plant for today will be to arrive early at the Inti Punku (Sun Gate). The hike from our campsite to the Inti Punku will be short but will entail some more hiking along steep, Inca stone steps. The reward? Some of the best views of Machu Picchu at sunrise.
After your visit to Machu Picchu, you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes town. Once in Aguas Calientes, you will be required to pick-up your belongings from the designated location and head to the train station for your train back to Ollantaytambo. Please know you will have enough time to grab lunch in Aguas Calientes prior to boarding your return train. You will be required to be in the train station by no later than 30 minutes prior to your train departure. In Ollantaytambo, there will be a car transfer waiting with a sign with your name on it. This car transfer will drive you back to Cusco and drop you off at your accommodation in Cusco.
