The Lares – Inca Trail 5D hike is an alternative option designed to give you access to some of the most pristine landscapes in the region. This hike crosses  not only a few mountain passes, and waterfalls in the andean puna but also one of the region’s last Inca villages. This hike is the perfect blend between nature trails, cultural exchange and Inca history.

ITINERARIO

Lares & Inca Trail Hike 5D

DAY 1: CUSCO – LARES HOT SPRINGS – KISWARANI

Take a dip in the Lares hot springs best known for its healing properties before beginning the hike. We will make our way to our first campsite in the small village of Kiswarani,  passing through some glacial lakes, waterfalls and mountain ranges.

DAY 2: KISWARANI – CONDOR PASS – CANCHA CANCHA

We will embrace the hike’s most challenging day with a warm cup of coffee or coca tea. The hike will be challenging but rewarding as we hike up to the trail’s highest point, the Condor Pass.

Highest altitude: 4,700 m.a.s.l.

 

DAY 3: CANCHA CANCHA – HUARAN – OLLANTAYTAMBO 

Today we will meet the families of one of the region’s last Inca villages, Cancha Cancha. This cultural exchange will sure to leave you with a heart-felt smile, as the villagers welcome you into their homes and show you some of their traditional, daily routines. Finish up the first section of the hike in the Sacred Valley by delighting your palette with a PACHAMANCA style lunch.

Highest altitude: 3,750 m.a.s.l.

 

DAY 4: KM 104 – WIÑAY WAYNA – INTI PUNKU – AGUAS CALIENTES 

This section of the hike is just like our Short Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu. Hike along the last 12 KM of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and enter the citadel vía de glorious Inti Punku (Sun Gate). You will not visit Machu Picchu today. Instead, you will head to the town of Aguas Calientes for your overnight stay.

DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Your visit to Machu Picchu will be in the morning hours. With a guided tour of approximately 3 hours, you will wander around the citadel’s most iconic sectors and temples. 

 

You will return to Cusco in the afternoon via train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and by car to the city of Cusco.
